What is a Computer Mouse?

A computer mouse is a handheld device used to control the movement of a cursor on a computer screen. It was invented in 1963 by Douglas Engelbart, and became an essential part of personal computing. The mouse typically has two buttons and a scroll wheel that can be used for additional functions such as clicking, scrolling, and dragging.

There are several types of computer mice, including mechanical mice, optical mice, and laser mice. Mechanical mice use a ball that rotates as the mouse is moved, which is then interpreted by the computer as movement. Optical mice use LED lights and image sensors to track movement, and laser mice use a laser to detect movement.

Today, mice often come with additional features such as programmable buttons, adjustable sensitivity, and ergonomic designs for comfortable use. They connect to the computer through USB or Bluetooth, and can be used with a variety of operating systems, including Windows, MacOS, and Linux.

In conclusion, the computer mouse is an important input device that allows users to interact with their computers and perform a wide range of tasks with ease and efficiency.
